Sanchia Thompson

Associate

Sanchia received her Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honors from her hometown at the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK. There she was awarded the University of Kent Scholarship for Academic Excellence for each year of her law degree, and she received a Letter of Outstanding Academic Achievement from the Board of Examiners.

Throughout Law School, Sanchia had experience in all levels of court assisting senior counsel on high profile family law cases and through her experience shadowing Supreme Court Judge Lord Clarke at the UK’s Supreme Court.

After completing Law School in the UK, Sanchia moved to Calgary where she enrolled in the University of Calgary’s Foreign-Trained Lawyers Program. Sanchia worked as a legal assistant before and during the Program before starting her journey as a lawyer here in Calgary.

Sanchia’s passion for helping others spans across all facets of her life. She spent several months in New Delhi, India where she worked for an NGO educating women with English lessons and vocational courses.  Upon arriving in Calgary, she volunteered with Pro-Bono Law Alberta – King’s Bench Court Assistant Program (KB Amicus) and Global Lawyers of Canada.

Sanchia’s diverse experience in family law means that she understands all aspects of the family law system and the challenges that each client faces during the divorce process. She approaches each client with care and empathy and is proud to provide a client focused service that looks to the priorities of each individual.

In her spare time, Sanchia enjoys walking with her Bernese Mountain Dog, exploring new food spots in the city and getting out to the mountains.
