Rylan is an Associate at DBB Law practicing family law, with experience handling separation, divorce, parenting, property division, and support matters.
Rylan completed law school at the University of Saskatchewan, where he volunteered with Pro-Bono Students Canada in the Family Law Project. He took an immediate interest in family law and articled at a boutique family law firm in Calgary, gaining valuable experience navigating complex property division and parenting disputes.
Before practicing family law, Rylan worked in a variety of restaurants around Calgary. He completed the professional cooking program at SAIT and received his Red Seal. After working in kitchens, he completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology with distinction from the University of Calgary.
He understands the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ensuring clients are properly represented as they settle matters in a cost-effective and efficient manner. With his background in psychology, he brings an empathetic approach to family law, ensuring clients are heard and focusing settlement discussions on interests rather than positions.
Rylan also recognizes that amicable resolutions are not always possible, or in the best interests of his clients and their children. When litigation is necessary, his background in kitchens ensures he remains collected and effective in high-pressure environments.
While not practicing, Rylan enjoys spending time in the mountains, playing board games, cooking, and eating great food. He enjoys running and has completed the Calgary and Edmonton marathons.
