Kirsten P. Hanson Calgary family law lawyer

Kirsten was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She graduated from the University of Calgary in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Kirsten worked in the area of family law while attending Law School in the United Kingdom. She graduated, receiving a Juris Doctor, in 2019 from the University of Surrey.  

Kirsten has practiced solely in the area of family law since being called to the bar in July 2021. In her practice, Kirsten would like build on her experience in family law with a specific focus on child custody disputes. Kirsten is committed to promoting the best interests of her clients based on their individual needs, in negotiations, mediations or other forms of dispute resolution. Kirsten is also a confident advocate when required to attend at Court, and regularly appears in the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench.  

Kirsten is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Calgary Bar Association. She enjoys volunteering with various organizations such as Surrey Nightline student listening services, the Foothills Hospital and Fernie Search and Rescue.

In her free time, Kirsten enjoys skiing, travelling and walking her dog, Tucker.

Mandatory Family Alternative Dispute Resolution in Alberta

Kirsten is experienced in family law alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and can help parties fulfil the court-mandated requirement to participate in an ADR process before their matter can be brought before the Court.

As a skilled ADR practitioner, Kirsten understands the impact parenting conflict and family violence can have on children and their development. As a result, she can also assist parties to meet the court-required ADR which must be completed before their family matter may proceed to Court.
