Gordon Sterchi, KC

Partner

Gord articled with Dunphy Best Blocksom in 2001 and became a partner in 2010. He practices in the area of family law as both a litigator and a mediator and arbitrator. He has also acted as counsel for landowners in surface rights matters in Alberta.

Gord is currently a member of the Calgary Flames Ambassadors and served on their Board of Directors. He was also on the executive of the Calgary Bar Association and served as the President in 2022. Gord received his King’s Counsel appointment in the spring of 2022. He previously served on the Board of Directors with The Distress Centre (formerly Distress Centre-Calgary).

Gord volunteers with the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education Program (CPLED) as an Instructor and Evaluator for the Bar Admission Course. He has authored and presented at the Legal Education Society of Alberta’s Family Law Bootcamp in Calgary and Edmonton (2009). He was previously a coach/ facilitator in Law 411 at the University of Calgary Law School.

An avid outdoorsman, Gord is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Coalition for Firearms Rights (CCFR). He enjoys hunting, competitive shooting, archery, fishing, hiking, and skiing. He also enjoys playing hockey.
